Laura Bellis is a trailblazer in health and wellness, championing access to reproductive care and community well-being. As Executive Director of the Take Control Initiative—the nation’s longest-running contraceptive access program—Laura has revolutionized healthcare in Tulsa. Collaborating with over 200 clinic and community partners, she has spearheaded strategies to provide quality reproductive care in challenging environments. Under her leadership, the initiative has collaboratively achieved a remarkable 63% reduction in Tulsa County’s teen birth rate, transforming women’s health and economic outcomes.
Laura’s commitment extends to broader health equity efforts. She co-founded Save Our State: Oklahomans United, a grassroots network addressing pandemic-era resource needs. She also developed Metriarch, a nonpartisan statewide data and policy collaborative focused on improving women’s health and opportunities.
Beyond her nonprofit leadership, Laura serves as Tulsa’s District 4 City Councilor, championing equitable policies and fostering intergovernmental collaboration. Her dedication has earned numerous accolades, including the Rev. Len Busch Social Justice Award and recognition as an Achiever Under 40.
