Arts & Humanities- Luisa Krug
Luisa Krug is the current Executive Director of Tulsa Immigrant Community Development Corporation. As the former Executive Director of the Tulsa Global District, where she has spent nearly three years transforming East Tulsa into a vibrant hub of culture and community. Her leadership prioritizes inclusive revitalization, ensuring that the area’s growth benefits all residents without displacement.
Collaborating with local artists, Luisa has overseen public art installations and cultural events that celebrate East Tulsa’s diversity, fostering a sense of pride among residents. She also champions programs like the Connect Local Digital Marketing Support Program, helping small businesses grow, and secured $250,000 in rental assistance for 100 families in partnership with El Centro.
With expertise in urban planning, cultural competency, and economic development, Luisa’s work bridges arts and humanities with community advocacy. Her collaborations with stakeholders and community organizations empower residents while preserving East Tulsa’s unique identity.
Facing challenges like misinformation about gentrification, Luisa mobilized stakeholders with empathy and facts, strengthening trust and unity. Her efforts have positioned East Tulsa as a model for community-driven development, blending cultural celebration with economic growth.
Through her dedication to arts and humanities, Luisa continues to uplift East Tulsa, ensuring its transformation reflects the voices and heritage of its diverse residents. Prior to working at Tulsa Global District, Luisa worked at the Tulsa Planning Office as the Destination Districts Manager and Tulsa Health Department as an epidemiologist.
